Norton Atlas India Launch Nears as Bookings Set to Begin Soon

Norton Motorcycles is preparing to begin bookings for the Norton Atlas in India. Although the company has not announced an official booking date yet, customers can expect reservations to open in the coming weeks. In addition, buyers will be able to book the motorcycle through Norton's official India website and its authorised dealerships. The India launch is also expected to take place within the next couple of months.

Premium Sales Network and Expected Price

Norton Atlas

Unlike TVS dealerships, Norton Bikes will be sold through exclusive showrooms across India. These outlets will offer dedicated sales, service, and spare parts support to provide a premium ownership experience. However, the motorcycles will be manufactured at TVS Motor Company's Hosur plant.

The Norton Atlas is expected to carry a price between Rs. 5.50 lakh and Rs. 6.50 lakh (ex showroom). Perhaps this pricing will place it above the BMW F 450 GS and make it a strong option in the premium middleweight adventure touring segment.

Engine and Performance Details

Norton Atlas

The Norton Atlas uses a new 585cc liquid cooled parallel twin engine that delivers 69 bhp at 9,300 rpm and 58 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. In addition, the engine features a 270 degree crankshaft, which promises a unique exhaust sound and strong low and mid range performance. A six speed gearbox comes as standard.

Two Variants With Different Riding Focus

Norton will introduce the motorcycle in Atlas and Atlas GT variants. The standard Atlas comes with a 19 inch front wheel and a 17 inch rear wheel, making it suitable for touring as well as light off road riding. However, the Atlas GT features 17 inch alloy wheels at both ends for a more road focused riding experience.

The company also plans to bring the Atlas Apex to India. This top variant will offer extra accessories and advanced rider aids for improved comfort and long distance touring. The Norton Atlas will compete with motorcycles such as the Kawasaki Versys 650 and Triumph Tiger Sport 660. With bookings expected to begin soon, adventure motorcycle enthusiasts may not have to wait much longer to experience this new premium offering in India.
