Founded in Ahmedabad in 2019, Matter Motor Works has introduced the Aera as India’s first geared electric motorbike. The Aera comes with a 4-speed HyperShift manual transmission, which the company claims is unique in the Indian electric vehicle market.
In addition to this innovative transmission, the motorbike features a liquid-cooled powertrain designed for urban traffic and challenging road conditions.
The Aera comes with a 5kWh IP67 certified battery and has a range of 172 kilometres on a single charge. Further, the motorbike goes from 0 to 40 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, while it consumes at an efficiency of 25 per kilometre.
Additionally, it features a 7-inch touchscreen dashboard that equips with navigation, music management, ride information, & over the air software updates, among other things, to boost the riding experience.
When it comes to safety, the motorcycle remains a priority with dual disc brakes equipped with ABS. Additionally, telescopic front suspension and dual rear suspension systems give the riders easy access. These features ensure both stability and comfort while riding in Indian traffic conditions.
Furthermore, Matter’s continuous focus on innovation is reflected in over 375 patent filings, with 82 granted, covering areas like powertrain systems, battery management, and charging infrastructure.
With this partnership Amazon & Matter aims to draw the attention of customers who prefer online purchases, hence widening the reach of electric motorbikes. This festive season, offers make the Aera appealing to new buyers, having the potential to increase the adoption of electric vehicles in India.
