Kawasaki ZX-4R Teaser Out | Likely to Hit Indian Markets Soon

Kawasaki frequently builds motorcycles that no one else would think to manufacture; the supercharged H2 series is a prime example. The business recently unveiled a 4-cylinder 400cc motorcycle named the ZX-4R. It was launched after the launch of a 4-cylinder 250cc bike, ZX25R, a few years ago. It is confirmed that the ZX-4R will soon be available in India.

In the 1990s, the 250cc & 400cc 4-cylinder segment were equally popular. However, as stricter pollution regulations took effect, the 600cc & 1000cc engines gained popularity, whereas the former progressively fell out of favour. 

Kawasaki's compact 4 cylinders are emissions-compliant. And even though its 250cc model could never make it to  India, the 400 will arrive shortly.

Specifications & Features of the Kawasaki ZX-4R

A 399cc engine powers the ZX-4R. It is the same size as the 390 Duke's new generation. But the similarities stop there, as the small Kawasaki screams to over 15,000 rpm on its way to a maximum output of 80bhp (with ram air support). That is almost twice as much power as the KTM & is much closer to the 87 bhp of the India-spec Honda CBR650R. In contrast, the Kawasaki's 39Nm torque is much less than the Honda's 57.5Nm & roughly equal to that of the KTM. However, it weighs much less than the Honda, weighing 211kg, at 188kg. 

The Kawasaki ZX-4R will only be available in its base specification when it debuts in India; the higher-specified ZX-4RR and SE models will be sold elsewhere.

Although the rear has an axial master cylinder, the front has dual 290mm discs and four-piston radial callipers from Nissin. Dual-channel ABS is a standard feature, and the rear disc is a 220mm unit. The Ninja 650 has tyres with identical sizes (120/70-ZR17 front and 160/60-ZR17 rear) but is less potent overall.

Sport, Road, Rain, and a programmable user mode that lets the user choose the traction control and power modes are the ZX-4R's three pre-set riding modes. A bidirectional quick-shifter is available as an optional extra on the basic model but is standard on the SE and RR variants. 

The bike receives a smart 4.3-inch colour TFT display with Bluetooth compatibility that supports turn-by-turn navigation and notification alerts. A unique Track pattern is also seen on the dash. 

Kawasaki ZX-4R: anticipated cost

The bike’s teaser has already hit Kawasaki India's social media, and the debut is anticipated soon. The Kawasaki ZX-4R will be imported to India through the CBU channel and is expected to cost between Rs 7-8 lakh, making it a somewhat expensive bike.
