Harley Sprint 440 Cruiser India Launch Expected Soon

Harley Davidson has announced a new entry level cruiser motorcycle named Sprint 440 for global markets recently. The upcoming motorcycle will use the existing 440cc platform developed with Hero MotoCorp for India. Moreover, the new bike will focus on classic cruiser styling instead of roadster inspired bodywork. The company has already shared a teaser sketch before its official global debut later this year. The motorcycle will also target export markets from India after local production begins officially.

Launch Timeline and Expected Pricing

Harley Davidson will first unveil the Sprint 440 globally before launching the motorcycle in Indian markets officially. Hero MotoCorp will manufacture the motorcycle locally for both Indian and overseas markets from India. In addition, the motorcycle may target buyers searching for classic Harley styling in the mid size segment.

The expected price range could remain between Rs 2.50 lakh and Rs 2.80 lakh ex-showroom across India. Therefore, Sprint 440 may compete against several mid size cruiser motorcycles available in the Indian market currently.

Sprint 440 Design Inspired by Harley Cruisers

The teaser sketch reveals styling inspired by Harley Davidson’s larger cruiser motorcycles sold in international markets currently. The motorcycle gets a circular headlamp, wide handlebar and teardrop shaped fuel tank at the front. In addition, the bike receives a step-up seat and flat exhaust setup for cruiser focused ergonomics.

The alloy wheels appear similar to those available with the Harley Davidson X440 motorcycle in India presently. However, the Sprint 440 may use a larger front wheel and smaller rear wheel combination. Reports suggest a possible 19 inch front wheel and 16 inch rear wheel setup for better cruiser stance.

The lower rear section and scooped rider seat may reduce the motorcycle’s overall seat height noticeably. Therefore, shorter riders could find the Sprint 440 easier during city riding and slow speed traffic conditions.

Engine and Hardware Details Expected

Harley Davidson is expected to use the same 440cc single cylinder air-oil cooled engine in Sprint 440. The engine currently produces 27 bhp power and 38 Nm torque in the Harley Davidson X440 motorcycle. Moreover, the motorcycle will likely continue with the same 6 speed gearbox available with the current model.

The main chassis appears similar to the X440 motorcycle from the teaser sketch shared by Harley Davidson. However, the rear subframe and front fork angle could differ for improved cruiser riding posture. The wider front fork angle may provide a more relaxed highway riding experience for riders.

Several hardware parts and electronic features may also come from the Harley Davidson X440 motorcycle currently sold. Therefore, Hero MotoCorp may control production costs during manufacturing operations in India for domestic and export markets.

Features and Technology Package

The Sprint 440 may offer the same technology package already available with the Harley Davidson X440 motorcycle. The bike could receive a 3.5 inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone related functions. In addition, safety equipment may include dual channel ABS, traction control and ride modes.

Cruise control could also become part of the motorcycle’s equipment list in higher variants later. However, Harley Davidson has not officially confirmed complete feature details for the Sprint 440 motorcycle yet.
