Electric Two-Wheeler Prices Rise Up To Rs. 16,000 Due To EMP Scheme

The implementation of the new EMP Scheme, valued at Rs. 500 crore and started on April 1, has increased electric scooter prices in India. This scheme provides incentives for electric vehicles sold after the second phase of the FAME scheme, which ended on March 31. Subsequently, costs have expanded up to Rs. 16,000 for electric scooters in the market.

The price changes are made to include the incentives from the EMPS and to keep the manufacturers competitive in the EV market. This change affects consumers who are now faced with higher prices for electric two-wheelers.

Increase In Electric vehicles Prices 
 

Ather scooter’s 450 range has experienced price increases of up to Rs. 16,000, with the most affordable 450S model experiencing the biggest hike. The 2.9kWh variant of the 450X has seen a smaller Rs. 3,000 increase, while the top-end 450X 3.7kWh now costs Rs. 10,000 more. 

Bajaj Chetak scooters have also seen price hikes, with increases of up to Rs. 12,000. The Urbane model now costs Rs. 8,000 more, and the Premium version is Rs. 12,000 pricier. 

TVS iQube electric scooter’s line-up has seen a fair price increase. The base variant is now Rs. 3,000 more expensive, and the top-spec S model is Rs. 6,000 expensive. 

Furthermore, the Vida Electric Scooter has adjusted its prices, raising the V1 Plus by Rs. 5,000 and the V1 Pro by Rs. 4,000.

The Impact Of The EMP Scheme On The EV Market 

The Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme, aimed at promoting electric vehicle usage, has quickly affected electric two-wheeler prices. Manufacturers have changed prices due to the reduced Rs. 10,000 benefit per vehicle, showing how the EV market is changing and how the government affects what consumers buy.

Ola electric scooter prices have yet to rise, and they have been extended until April 15. This decision might be influenced by Ola's plans to go public soon.
