Challan issued to scooter rider for not wearing a seat belt: Asked to pay 1000 Rupees

An Odisha resident received a challan meant for someone else. The rider reported it to the ministry of Road transport and highways. These technical glitches need to be streamlined and fixed

What happened in this case?

Recently, a case was spotted online as it got viral on different social media platforms. The issue was reported from Odisha, where a scooter rider received an sms stating a challan of Rs. 1000 for not wearing a seatbelt. However, as quickly as he opened the image attached to the challan, it was someone else's picture.
How did the rider react to the invalid challan?

What do you think happened further in the story? A challan issued to a car driver for not wearing a helmet? It is a joke for now, but maybe someone has faced this glitch. Returning to the seatbelt story, Mr Abhishek Kar lives in Odisha and received the SMS with Rs. 1000 seat belt challan. As he quickly examined the challan, he found that the picture attached to the challan was of someone else. So finally, Mr Kar approached the officials of the respected ministry. However, even after complaining, he didn't hear any words from officials regarding the same issue.

What to learn?

The story of Mr Kar might seem funny for a time, but it's a serious issue on the other hand. In his case, the challan was issued on 10th February, but he received the challan on 17th February. Automation is undoubtedly a great move to manage such a huge country like India. But, the traffic dept needs to make sure of software glitches which charge heavy penalties for invalid reasons. Further, we hope Mr Kar gets his refund and is free from penalty.
