BMW Reveals Vision CE: Future Electric Scooter with Safety Cage

BMW Motorrad has revealed its latest concept, the Vision CE, at IAA Mobility 2025. This futuristic electric scooter aims to redefine city riding by combining safety, comfort, and sustainability. Inspired by the BMW C1 scooter from 25 years ago, the Vision CE introduces a protective safety cage and seatbelt system.

Scooter with a Safety Cage

The Vision CE introduces a strong metal tube cage around the rider. This cage works like a protective cell, similar to a car’s safety frame. It comes with a special seat design and a seatbelt system for safety. BMW says riders can enjoy freedom without helmets or heavy jackets. The open structure also adds a light and airy look to the scooter.

The scooter features a coated aluminium frame with a matte white finish. Contrasting black details and neon red accents complete its stylish appeal. The long wheelbase gives it a stretched and sporty visual presence. Moreover, there’s a self-balancing system that allows the Vision CE to stand still without tipping. This makes riding easier in traffic and more comfortable for beginners.

Inspired by the BMW C1 Legacy

Back in 2000, BMW launched the C1 scooter with built-in safety protection. That scooter allowed helmet-free riding, thanks to its enclosed bodywork. Now, the Vision CE revives that philosophy with modern materials and design. It adds car-like safety features such as foam padding and a five-point belt.
