BMW Motorrad is preparing for a major change in its global and Indian motorcycle lineup. The brand has officially confirmed that it will soon phase out its entire 310cc motorcycle range. In its place, BMW will introduce an all-new family of motorcycles based on a bigger and more powerful 420cc engine platform.

Over the past few months, BMW Motorrad has already started clearing the way for this transition. The G 310 R and G 310 GS have been discontinued in India, and currently, only the G 310 RR remains on sale. However, this fully-faired sport bike is also expected to be discontinued soon. Once that happens, BMW Motorrad will completely exit the 310cc segment.
According to BMW Motorrad CEO Markus Flasch, the new motorcycles will be co-developed in Germany, while TVS Motor Company will handle manufacturing duties. This partnership follows the same strategy used for the earlier 310cc models.

BMW had earlier showcased the F 450 GS at EICMA 2025, giving a clear hint of the brand’s future direction. Although its India debut was delayed, the adventure bike is now expected to arrive in January 2026. With this model, BMW is introducing a new 420cc parallel-twin engine that will serve as the base for multiple upcoming motorcycles.
In addition to the F 450 GS, BMW is also expected to launch a streetfighter-style naked bike, likely to be called the BMW F 450 R. This model may follow the same approach as the earlier G 310 R but with a fresh and sharper design. Perhaps inspired by bigger BMW naked bikes like the S 1000 R, the new bike is expected to look more aggressive and modern.
However, BMW will need to modify the F 450 GS’s steel frame to suit the naked bike’s sporty character. The engine is also likely to receive different tuning for quicker and more exciting performance.
The F 450 R is expected to carry forward several premium features seen on the GS version. These may include a 6.5-inch TFT display, ride modes, a bidirectional quickshifter, and BMW’s Easy Ride Clutch system. This clutch system makes riding easier, especially for new riders.
In terms of pricing, the upcoming BMW streetfighter could cost around Rs 4.10 lakh (ex-showroom), slightly higher than the Aprilia Tuono 457. Meanwhile, the F 450 GS is expected to be priced closer to Rs 4.50 lakh.
