Ampere has introduced new technology upgrades for its Nexus electric scooter on World EV Day. The highlight is the Map Mirroring Technology and an advanced connectivity platform called Nex.IO.
These features are designed to improve navigation, safety, and the digital experience for riders. The company has also focused on offering new connected services while retaining the scooter’s existing performance.
The upgraded Nexus now comes with a 7-inch TFT display that makes navigation easier for riders. Further, the screen provides full navigation details, including zoom options, estimated time of arrival, and distance-to-next-turn updates. Moreover, the system also brings dashboard monitoring, music control, call connectivity, and safety alerts for a complete digital riding experience.
The Nexus is already known as India’s Electric Scooter of the Year and has five national records. Recently, it became the first electric scooter to reach Shipki La Pass at an altitude of 13,200 feet. This achievement, which came within 200 meters of the Line of Control, was certified by the India Book of Records.
According to Ram Rajappa, Chief Operating Officer of Greaves Electric Mobility, Ampere's parent company, "With the introduction of Nex.IO, Nexus now comes with various tech innovations, elevating the riding experience by bringing next-gen digital features into the hands of our customers."
The upgraded system offers call notifications and controls, allowing riders to stay connected without losing focus on the road. In addition to that, the scooter also brings integrated music connectivity through touchscreen and handlebar controls. Moreover, the Ampere Care Connectivity system adds safety alerts and service reminders for better convenience.
The Nexus can also be paired with the Ampere Connect mobile application, which tracks important details of the vehicle. Riders can monitor battery health and other scooter parameters easily through the application. Hence, the new features enhance both digital connectivity and overall riding confidence.
According to the company, the Nexus uses LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery chemistry for long-lasting performance. However, the new features are aimed at improving the connected riding experience without changing the scooter’s performance levels. Vikas Singh, Managing Director of Greaves Electric Mobility, said the company aims to "change the way people move by manufacturing scooters that are safe, reliable and built to last."
Greaves Electric Mobility Limited, a subsidiary of Greaves Cotton Limited, has been designing electric vehicles for over 16 years. The company recently filed a draft red herring prospectus with regulators in December 2024, moving closer to its planned initial public offering. In addition to that, Greaves Cotton Limited has a long legacy of 165 years and has transitioned from diesel engines to mobility solutions. The group now operates across electric mobility, retail, finance, and technology segments.
Hence, the technology upgrades reflect Ampere’s effort to stand out in the competitive Indian electric two-wheeler market. Besides, the company highlights that its focus remains on real-world performance, safety, and rider comfort. Thus, by adding Map Mirroring and Nex.IO, Ampere aims to position Nexus uniquely in India’s EV market.
