Ola Electric has reduced the price of its flagship Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh motorcycle. The price now stands at Rs 1.29 lakh, which is a major drop from Rs 1.89 lakh. This sharp cut makes the motorcycle more appealing to buyers. In addition, Ola says improved production efficiency helped reduce costs. The company uses its in-house 4680 Bharat battery cells for this model.

As production improves, costs come down, and customers benefit directly. Perhaps this strategy will help Ola attract more buyers in the electric motorcycle segment.

Limited Booking Windows Replace Regular Sales

However, Ola has changed the way customers can buy this motorcycle. The Roadster X+ will not be available through regular open sales anymore. Instead, the company will sell it in limited time slots. The first booking window opens on April 3 between 6 pm and 9 pm.

Future booking slots will depend on production levels. Therefore, buyers will need to act quickly during these windows. Ola says demand is currently higher than supply. Hence, this method helps manage deliveries better.

Strong Range & Very Low Running Cost

The Roadster X+ comes with a 9.1 kWh battery pack. It offers a claimed range of up to 500 km on a full charge. In addition, the running cost is very low compared to petrol bikes. Charging the battery may cost around Rs 46 for a full cycle.

This means the cost per kilometer stays close to Rs 0.09. However, petrol bikes like commuter models cost much more per kilometre. Therefore, long-term savings make this motorcycle a practical option for daily use.

Sales Growth and Battery Expansion Plans

Ola Electric also announced the high sales growth in the recent past. In March, the company registered more than 10,000.

Besides, in the next stage, it will increase its Gigafactory to 6GWh. This will contribute to the boost in production and demand.

Moreover, an improved battery production can lead to additional cost benefits in the future. It might be that further price cuts may come in case efficiency is enhanced further.

Concerns Around Reliability and Service

Nevertheless, there are still certain concerns among users. A lot of clients have complained of software malfunctions and failure to respond to services. There are cases when service centers are not able to cope with technical troubles promptly. This influences the general ownership experience. The CEO of Ola has already raised them publicly. The company also launched plans such as hyper-service so as to enhance support.
