New Benelli Leoncino 250 Spotted Before Launch

The updated version of the new Leoncino 250 was spotted on Indian roads while testing. The test mule was seen without camouflaged, and most of its components are production-ready, which hints it is near to its launch. Benelli India discontinued the production of this bike in 2020 due to the implementation of the new BS6 emission norms. However, the brand is now planning to bring back its quarter-litre segment with this scrambler. Read on for more information. 

New Benelli Leoncino 250: What to expect?

Despite being well camouflaged, several design aspects of the motorbike were obvious. First, the tank has been given angular extensions and is now more muscular than it was previously. The headlamp and tail section have also been altered to make them appear stubbier.

Apart from that, a tyre hugger is mounted on LED number plates to help keep the tail neat. Although this test mule did not have rear turn indicators, a production-ready bike might include them. Additionally, the rider can sit upright because of the single-piece seat and street-style handlebar. For sporting aggressiveness, the rider's footpegs are a little behind.

Unless there are any small adjustments made to assist it meet the new OBD-2B emissions standards. However, we anticipate that the engine will stay mostly the same. The discontinued model was powered by a  249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It generates 25.4bhp and 21Nm and mated to a six-speed gearbox. With a kerb weight of 162kg, it is also rather light, and the new model should keep the same.

Expected Price and Launch

If the new Benelli Leoncino is launched at Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom), it would allow the brand to reach a far larger market. At this price range, it will compete with other neo-retro motorcycles, such as the Honda CB300R. In the upcoming festive months, the bike may be launched, establishing it as the brand's most reasonably priced motorbike.
