The Delhi government has approved a new EV policy with a Rs. 15,000-crore budget, bringing great news for electric two-wheeler buyers. The policy, effective from July 1, 2026, to March 31, 2030, aims to boost the adoption of EV bikes and scooters in the city.
Under this policy, buyers can avail purchase incentives of up to Rs. 30,000 in the first year. The subsidy will gradually reduce to Rs. 20,000 in the second year and Rs. 10,000 in the third year, making early adoption even more beneficial.
To encourage a shift towards cleaner mobility, the government is also offering scrapping incentives of around Rs. 10,000 for BS-IV two-wheelers. This will help users switch from petrol-powered bikes to electric options at a lower cost.
In a major step towards sustainability, Delhi will allow only electric two-wheelers to be registered from April 1, 2028. This move is expected to significantly increase the presence of EV scooters and EV bikes on city roads.
To support the growing number of EVs, the government plans to install 32,000 charging points across Delhi over the next four years. Additionally, a dedicated online portal will simplify the process of applying for EV incentives.
Overall, the new EV policy makes electric two-wheelers more affordable for daily commuting. With strong financial benefits and improved infrastructure, this is the right time for Delhi riders to consider switching to EV scooters and bikes.
