Bajaj Auto to Release SIX New Pulsar Bikes Before FY24 Ends

In a thrilling announcement, Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, has unveiled plans for the launch of SIX new Pulsar motorcycles by the end of this financial year. Among these, one Pulsar is creating significant buzz as it's hinted to be the "biggest ever Pulsar," possibly featuring a robust 400cc engine.

The Pulsar brand holds a special place in the hearts of motorcycle enthusiasts, not just in India but across the globe. Bajaj Auto has, until now, introduced Pulsar motorcycles ranging from 125cc to 250cc. The lineup includes models like the Pulsar 125, Pulsar NS 125, Pulsar RS200, and the more recent Pulsar N250 and Pulsar F250, catering to various segments of riders.

Rajiv Bajaj, the MD of Bajaj Auto, dropped a hint of the "biggest ever Pulsar" among the six forthcoming models under the Pulsar banner, all set to hit the market before the fiscal year concludes. It's highly likely that Mr. Bajaj was referring to engine displacement rather than the physical size and dimensions of the motorcycle.

Based on this clue, Bajaj could be gearing up to launch a Pulsar boasting an engine exceeding 250cc. Given Bajaj's collaboration with KTM and shared powertrain architectures, this "biggest ever Pulsar" might share its powertrain with models like the Triumph Speed 400 & KTM 390.

Bajaj's current flagship, the Dominar 400, also shares its powertrain with the previous-generation KTM 390 series. This leads to speculation that the upcoming "biggest ever Pulsar" could potentially be a fully-faired version of the Dominar 400, bearing the Pulsar badge. Another possibility is that it could inherit design and chassis elements from the RS200 or NS200, coupled with a more potent engine.

In a recent interview, Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Auto, confirmed the launch of 6 new Pulsar models within this financial year. The aim is to roll out this eagerly anticipated motorcycle within this financial year to gain insights into its growth & profitability over the following year.

During the same interview, Mr. Bajaj hinted at the company's active exploration of opportunities in the premium motorcycle segment, characterized by a value exceeding Rs. 1.7 lakh and engines generally larger than 200cc. This segment encompasses Bajaj's current offerings like the Pulsar RS 200, and Dominar range, as well as products developed in collaboration with partners like KTM, Husqvarna & Triumph.

The prospect of a 400cc Pulsar priced around Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom) is indeed captivating. It could potentially feature a 399cc single-cylinder engine co-developed with Triumph and marketed under the Pulsar brand. Notable features might include USD telescopic front forks, dual-channel ABS, around 40 bhp of power, 35 Nm of torque, a slipper clutch, ride-by-wire throttle, and full LED headlights. Motorcycle enthusiasts can eagerly anticipate its launch in the coming months.
