Yamaha has unveiled the 2026 Tricity 300, which is a three wheeled maxi scooter with an airbag system something never seen before. This qualifies it to become the first production scooter in the world to provide rider airbag. The airbag, which was created in collaboration with Autoliv, is installed on the front apron below the steering handle. It is used in case of a head on hit, which will provide shock protection to the rider. The new model will be introduced to the international markets in the second half of 2026, & India is not likely to see its introduction. Moreover, the safety system does not affect storage space and the comfort of the rider.

The airbag has been specially engineered for two wheelers, considering rider position, balance, and packaging limitations. Meanwhile, the non airbag variant keeps a front central storage compartment for smaller items. Moreover, the system does not interfere with handling or scooter convenience, as it letting riders enjoy enhanced safety without compromises.

The Tricity 300 continues with Yamaha’s leaning multi wheel platform and a 292cc single cylinder engine. Euro5+ compliance is achieved through a new catalytic converter that is 800 grams lighter than before. In addition, the scooter features all LED lights, a 4.2 inch colour TFT display, smartphone connectivity, Garmin navigation via StreetCross, & cornering ABS. Therefore, the scooter combines safety & modern technology for a smoother riding experience.
Yamaha plans to launch the Tricity 300 internationally in late 2026. However, the model is not expected to arrive in India, keeping this innovation mainly for global markets.
