Suzuki Hayabusa recalled in India over possible braking fault

Suzuki has recalled the Hayabusa in India because of a possible braking problem. The units recalled were manufactured between 2021 and 2023. This is mainly due to problems with the front brake caliper, which may result in poor braking performance.

Suzuki advises owners to have their bikes inspected and make necessary repairs at authorized service centers free of charge. This proactive measure ensures this sports bike is safe and reliable. Owners are guided to check their vehicle identification numbers to see if they qualify.

Quick Highlights:

  • Suzuki Hayabusa was recalled in India for braking issues.
  • Affected units manufactured between 2021 and 2023.
  • Owners are advised to inspect bikes at service centers.
  • The recall impacts 1,056 Hayabusa units in India.
  • The front brake lever may pose safety risks.

Suzuki has announced a recall for one of its most popular big bikes in India, the Hayabusa. This recall affects 1,056 units, and the company is expected to contact affected customers shortly.

Recall Due to Front Brake Issues and Safety Risks

The recall is due to a problem with the front brakes. According to the official document, "the front brake lever play may increase, and in extreme cases, the lever can touch the throttle grip, resulting in longer braking distances."

In simpler terms, the front brake levers on those specific bikes may become so soft that they fully touch the accelerator without fully compressing. This can prevent effective braking, leading to greater braking distance and some risks in safety circumstances.

Enhanced Braking and Performance

Hayabusa changed its front brakes to Brembo Stylema calipers, clutching a couple of discs that measure 320mm in diameter. Braking is moderate, but the response is smooth and progressive. So, the overall stopping power has improved significantly over the previous one.

Additionally, where Hayabusa always used to excel because of its engine. The 1,340cc inline four-cylinder motor induces 190bhp and 142Nm of torque, giving an exciting yet surprisingly smooth and manageable ride. This makes it one of the most enjoyable supersport bikes to own and ride.

Priced at Rs. 16.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the Suzuki Hayabusa is one of the best-value big bikes available in India.
