India’s electric motorcycle space continues to evolve as new technologies and ownership models enter the market. Ultraviolette Automotive has now introduced a new ownership plan for its latest electric two-wheeler, the X-47 Crossover. The company has launched a programme called Battery Flex, which separates the cost of the motorcycle from the battery. As a result, buyers can purchase the bike at a much lower upfront price and pay for the battery through a monthly subscription.

With the Battery Flex programme, customers can now buy the X-47 crossover at a starting price of Rs 1.49 lakh. Earlier, buyers had to pay the full cost of the motorcycle, including the battery pack. However, the new model allows them to purchase the motorcycle without the battery and subscribe to it separately.
The battery subscription starts at Rs 2,499 per month. In addition, the company states that this plan reduces the initial cost by nearly 40% compared with the traditional ownership model.
This approach follows the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) concept, which spreads the battery cost over time instead of charging it upfront. Since batteries are costly, separating them from the purchase price makes the motorcycle more affordable.

The subscription does more than simply lower the entry price. The battery plan also includes a five-year warranty, which provides peace of mind to customers about durability and performance.
However, the most interesting part comes after the subscription period ends. Once the tenure finishes, the battery ownership shifts to the rider without any additional payment. In other words, the rider eventually owns the full motorcycle, including the battery.
Furthermore, the company says the monthly cost may be similar to what riders usually spend on petrol.
To make the programme possible, Ultraviolette partnered with Ecofy, a financial company that focuses on green and sustainable financing solutions. Through this partnership, the brand aims to simplify access to electric mobility while offering structured payment options.
According to Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co-founder of Ultraviolette, “At ₹2.5 lakh, Ultraviolette was at price parity with similarly powered ICE motorcycles. Now, with a starting price of ₹1.5 lakh, riders gain access to better technology, features, and performance that outpaces every segment. With operating costs as low as ₹2499 per month, which is lesser than the average spends on petrol, we are redefining what affordability means in motorcycling.”
The X-47 crossover represents Ultraviolette’s latest electric motorcycle offering. Now, with the Battery Flex plan, the company hopes to expand its customer base across India.
