Suzuki India Plans to Launch Electric 2-Wheelers

India’s electric market has been growing at an exponential rate lately, especially because of the subsidies and other environmental benefits. Now, Suzuki is also planning to enter this growing market by revealing its upcoming EV plans. 

The Japan-based manufacturer finally revealed that it is planning to launch 8 new electric 2-wheelers by FY 2030. However, there is no confirmation about what 2-wheelers could be. We are crossing our fingers, hoping for a mix of scooters & bikes. 

Suzuki also informed that the EVs will make up for 25% of its entire portfolio by 2030. We are expecting that most of these will be small or mid-sized 2-wheelers, focussing mostly on daily commuting use. As for the large bikes, the brand is planning to adopt carbon-neutral fuels, staying away from the electric batteries, at least as of now. 

The company has already introduced Burgman Electric internationally in October 2023. But the riding range was quite small as compared to the current offerings in the market. So, we are strongly hoping for some major tweaks & upgrades in the upcoming range of electric bikes & scooters. Having said that, electric Burgman entering the Indian market seems unlikely for now. 

However, as per some sources, it is being said that the brand is working on Electric Access, so we are hoping at least that would be launched in India as their 1st electric 2-wheeler. Unfortunately, though, there is no official statement from the brand about that either.
